Others will no doubt chime in with better explanations, but try lowering the amount of ram allocated to AE (as counterintuitive as that seems). In short (as I understand it) AE is grabbing too much ram, thus starving the rest of your system of resources.

(I have 26 of 32GB allocated to Ae/CS6… on my system that seems to be the sweet spot)

OMG, please help me!

Has anyone ever seen this behavior or error?

I can RAM preview and save that (THANKFULLY) but when I render - it takes 55 minutes and fails and AE seems to be loading all the available RAM and then failing the render when there is no RAM left.

I have tried restarting, purging, not looking...

My comp is 2000x1900.

I have 32 gigs of RAM - OS X 10.8.2

2 x 2.93 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon

Any ideas?  Thanks,
Rachel
