Chris,

The stereo plugin right now does the color and feature matching that Ocula provides.  It does the transfer of color from one eye to another, and tries to make "features" match from one to the other (like a reflections and lens flares that might be of differing shapes due to specular reflection differents, polarization issues, or simply lens flare differences due to different placement of lens/mirrors etc. with respect to light sources).  And where there are obstructions in one view and not the other, we "spread out" the color changes where the registration shows there might be something in one eye that's not in the other.  We don't currently do vertical or horizontal alignment adjustment.

That said, I think we are better than Ocula's color and matching of features for stereo, but you should determine that for yourself.

For the stereo plugin features and settings, you'll get a good feel by watching our tutorial which really gives you a feel for what the plugin can do:  http://help.revisionfx.com/tutorial/153/

Hi Peter,

I remember when this was released I was interested but had email issues at the time and couldn't ask any questions...

How would you say this compares to the Ocula plug-in for Nuke?  Is it not the same thing, or is there some overlap?

We worked on a stereo project last year and all of the footage keying and pre-processing was done in Nuke.  The cost of the Ocula plugin to process and align the stereo rushes was astonishing (tens of thousands of dollars just to rent it) - so if this is a low cost alternative for AE that does the same thing then it's very exciting indeed, even if it might be a niche product.

Hope it's a success for you!

-Chris

Hey all,
<product announcement>
Just some info on the newly released RE:Match v1.1

RE:Match v1.1 released. A lower priced $89.95 version is now available for
multicam shoots, or single camera shoots consisting of multiple shots with
different lighting or camera settings, where RE:Match matches as best it can
one sequence's overall color appearance to match that of another. RE:Match
Pro is $329.95 and adds the support for matching for stereo pairs. For more

In this way you can get the automatic color matching plug-in without having
to pay for the stereo features.

RE:Match has the RE:Match Color plug-in and performs it's color matching by
many methods:
Matcing global gain and offsets of the two images
Matching the global mean of the two images
2 differing histogram methods
Can use a subwindow to calculate the match (presumably to cordon off areas
that should match, excluding areas that are different in the two images), but
then apply the transformation to all the pixels
Can cut and paste a stored transformation from one clip to another
More important features listed here:
RE:Match Pro includes the stereo plug-in which I've posted about before.
