Similarly, on PC, instead of looking for the PID.. just type this in Command Prompt.

taskkill /IM AfterFX.exe

That kills all of the selflinks as well..

again, not sure if this helps in a crash / freeze up

or u can just type in the terminal

killall -SEGV "After Effects"
