The technology is advancing so rapidly that the problems and issues found by early adopters are being addressed, if not already eliminated.
FWIW I replaced the mechanical HD in my old 2008 iMac with a Samsung 840Pro SSD and it is like a new machine.  Faster than it ever was.  I am very happy!
