If the application has caught an exception at a relatively high level and knows that it's still intact enough to save a project, it will offer that ability. I don't know how this differs on Mac OS versus Windows.

Hey Todd,

Was there a way to save an AEP when crashing in Windows?

It seems unlikely. Sometimes AE will automatically offer to save the project but more often I just get a message that AE or Premiere has crashed, and in that case the UI is already gone.
