Just asking to understand whether you just simply want to move the entire mask as a whole. Hopefully, I am not simplifying your problem because it sounds like you just aren't selecting the mask and instead are getting just points. If that's the case, of the many ways, I just click anywhere on the mask and double click which gets the whole mask. Or, click on mask down in the timeline selects the whole thing.
