Nothing special about the masks= and they are well outside the area I am clicking on the layer so they shou= ldn't get 'activated' by mis-click or proximity.

I have = also been annoyed of this behaviour of AE, but i don't have the problem= always and haven't been able to isolate what exactly casues AE to some= times pick the layer and sometimes the mask. I have an idea that it has som= ething to do with the size of the mask or when the layer is scaled, but i c= an't reproduce it right now.

A quick fix= for this is just to toggle the mask visibility in the comp viewer, but tha= t of course turns off all masks so might not always be desired.

What I would like to do is = click on the layer and move it without effecting the mask at all. Right now= every time I click on the layer with the move tool and try to move it I am= moving/editing the mask instead of the layer. I have to lock the mask to r= evert to 'normal'=A0functionality=A0with the move tool.
