I would only hope that Maxon will allow a license where you can get C4D Studio along with your Creative Cloud subscription for maybe a tacked on cost?... I could see Adobe wanting to offer a 3d app, but instead of buying off a company, or developing their own.. working out a partnership where they sell the other company's software through their own model, and share the profits, and also allow to integrate the workflow better, as more people will have access to that software.

Plus.. C4D pricing seems SUPER expensive, now that Creative Cloud has come out... yearly costs have shrunk considerably to keep latest Adobe products on-board, but Maxon's prices have gone up quite a bit to get into their products. If you need one specific feature, you sometimes have to buy the top of the line package, even if you don't need the rest of the stuff..

Interesting. They are a natural fit, seems inspired by the recent Modo, Foundry news.

Cheers
