Thanks Everyone...

I'm still running 10.6.8 and an older iLife install (iphoto '08).  So maybe my setup is not up to the challenge, like the newer OSX and probably iPhoto '11.  I did try seeing if one of the kid's MacMini's with a DVD drive could read the disk, with iPhoto '11 and 10.6.8, it could not read the files either. So, maybe it's something with the new version of OSX.

I still have a G4 with OS9 I use from some archive projects with video in the Truevision RTX codec, and I'm pretty sure that setup would let Photoshop open these disks and even choose the resolution.

Since I'd prefer to have an image database which is not tied to support for the Kodak codec, I am test driving the software I mentioned and batch converting an entire CD volume to .jpg format.  The conversion process seems to be be just about as fast (using 4 of 8 processors) as I could copy the .pcd image files over to my source data HDD.

Now I just have to work thru 2 libraries (400 cds).  :)  Not quite as convenient as running thru audio CDs in itunes, but it's not too bad.

Thanks again for the responses.
