The best solution i know for this is to make a fully solid layer when applying the first pin to force the genearation of a puppet mesh that fills the whole layer, this ofcource also looses some of the deformation beauty of the puppet tool, but you will never get cutoff layers either. Remember that the puppet tool initial mesh is generated fr= om the alpha of the layer that is active when you apply the first puppet pi= n, so it could be problematic to have layers that have very different outli= nes in the timeremapped comp. The best solution i know for this is to make = a fully solid layer when applying the first pin to force the genearation of= a puppet mesh that fills the whole layer, this ofcource also looses some o= f the deformation beauty of the puppet tool, but you will never get cutoff = layers either.
Maybe other have another better solution?

Thanks Chris that are great tips. Would the time-remapping you have=20 explained work though for comps like that with puppet tool?

Hi,=20
=A0
I generally use time-remapping in these situations.=A0 Create a pre-co= mp=20 for each component that may change, e.g. a pre comp for clothes, hair, eyes= ,=20 mouth shapes etc etc.=A0 Sequence all of your artwork in the pre comp at 1= =20 second intervals, and then assemble all of the pre comps in your main comp = and=20 apply time-remapping with hold keyframes.
Then simply adjust the time remapping value to display the image in ea= ch=20 pre comp.
=A0
You can use this technique for animation (e.g. eye movements and mouth= =20 movements) as well as static images such as clothing.
=A0
The other advantage of this approach is that you can set up your pre c= omps=20 at a 'master' size and then re-size and align your artwork inside i= t.=A0 So=20 if your artwork is hand-drawn and scanned in, then it will vary in size fro= m=20 piece to piece.=A0 You can adjust and align all of the images in the pre-co= mp=20 so that they will match each other in the main comp.

Hi,

I often need multiple versions of a .PSD file, for example a charact= er to=20 be used in an animation, may need different clothes and hair styles, thes= e PSD=20 files have many layers.

I need to use the same AE project, I only = want=20 to swap the PSD, let=92s say for example a different version of the PSD f= or each=20 scene (one AE project file for each scene).

Is there an easy way t= o do=20 this without a lot of hassle, not having to rename the original PSD and h= aving=20 to replace it every time for each time I work on an AE project?

I = would=20 like to know about a solution that does not require making another copy o= f the=20 project etc.

I have read in older ae-list posts about for example= =20 exporting and search/replace in an XML file, but there must be a better= =20 way?

Thanks
