Agreed with the assessment of SIGGRAPH and Motion. I've been to bo= th and like them.

SIGGRAPH tends to skew more heavy tech/nuts and b= olts of graphics creation.  Where as the Motion Conference skews much m= ore toward creative process and inspiration.  So it all really depends = on what you are hoping to get out of your experience.  If you're really= into the nitty gritty of particle simulation and 3d motion tracking, etc, S= IGGRAPH is probably more for you.  There is definitely a HOW-TO compone= nt to the Motion Conference, but your not likely to drill into the finer poi= nts of ambient occlusion and subsurface light scattering there…

Bumping this topic to generate some feedback. I'm looking i= nto going to SIGGRAPH again this year. I've been 5 times in the past 15 year= s. I always get a lot out of it but just thought I would ask how it might be= compared to the Motion Conference. I know that conference will be favored o= n this list but I'm especially keen to hear from someone who has been to bot= h shows. My tastes lean toward VFX and 3D with an interest in things like pa= rticles and simulation over pure motion design.

Any= one care to share experiences?
