Let's be honest. If you actually make a living in this industry, you are working at most 1-2 hours a month to pay for this software, and that's a personal license because I believe most of us have software provided for us at work. I know all of us waste more time than an hour a month on the clock. Hell we probably make that up in bathroom time alone. I mean seriously, I don't really understand who is complaining. I understand some of the technical issues, and people who feel cheated because of the sunk cost of buying a permanent license, but it's way better than putting down thousands up front, no matter how you feel. It would take you well over two years on cc to match the single cost of a full master suite licence. This is the way things are going, and I think it's actually MUCH friendlier to the freelancer and individuals. I pay 4x that amount per month in cellphone and internet bills, yet CC actually earns me money. my 2c

In Europe we are looking at $80 a month (12 months) or $117 a month (pick and choose)!

The point is that if someone is going through a tough patch, they can choose to hold off for a while on a upgrade. Not possible with a subscription.

One thing that is nice is that if you are an occasional user you can choose to buy a month here and there for $49 a pop. Doesn't seem to bad to me if you can manage to make money with the tools. Also, a monthly bill seems to be easier for some folks to handle than a $600 upgrade. If your business doesn't make enough to cover $49 a month you have issues.

There is no option to buy a new perpetual license or upgrade an existing perpetual license.

Unless you switch to Creative Cloud you are stuck on CS6 forever.

The people this will negatively impact are the ones who maybe can’t afford to upgrade every time and therefore can’t afford to pay $600 a year for a subscription. With the current model these people could still work with the version they have. Once using the cloud model, a lapse in subscription means they can’t work and therefore can’t earn the money needed to pay for the subscription.

I personally like to own the licenses of my software. Some packages need a subscription to keep up to date but if I stop paying that, for whatever reason, the software still works. I just don’t get my updates.

I would have liked CC to have been running parallel with CS for a few versions before forcing everyone over to it.
