Some really cool techniques described in this thread but I have to say, I think the Photoshop route may be best for you. But don't bugger around copy and pasting, just export a few overlapping frames and run Photomerge. It's all automatic, should work like a charm if it is a tripod shot and the finished frame will be at the optimum resolution from the source footage.
