To address your (somewhat joking, I presume) scenario seriously, Jim:

If the application checks to see if its activation is current and fails to =
connect with the server, you go into a "grace period" mode, during which th=
e software still runs, but it tells you how many days you have to connect t=
o the Internet to activate. The grace period for folks on an annual subscri=
ption is 99 days. So, you'll have more than three months in the worst-case =
scenario to finish your work---and if the mini-apocalypse hasn't been resol=
ved by then, you may have bigger concerns.

So, you most certainly do not need a constant Internet connection to run th=
is software.

My "worry" is that some cyber attack will bring down the power grid and I w=
on't be able to authorize, while running Ae off my wood fueled power genera=
tor.  But, I'm hoping my clients will cut me some slack on the deadline if =
that happens.
