To address your (somewhat joking, I presume) scenario seriously, Jim:

If the application checks to see if its activation is current and fails to connect with the server, you go into a "grace period" mode, during which the software still runs, but it tells you how many days you have to connect to the Internet to activate. The grace period for folks on an annual subscription is 99 days. So, you'll have more than three months in the worst-case scenario to finish your work---and if the mini-apocalypse hasn't been resolved by then, you may have bigger concerns.

So, you most certainly do not need a constant Internet connection to run this software.

I'm going to have to marry a rich widow to retire, I'm afraid.

But, it's comforting to hear stories like yours, Rob.  I hope your results are typical.  I suppose I'll join the club after Ae and Pr Next are released.

My "worry" is that some cyber attack will bring down the power grid and I won't be able to authorize, while running Ae off my wood fueled power generator.  But, I'm hoping my clients will cut me some slack on the deadline if that happens.
