(this was proven true and eventually the reason apple = stopped including the apps) in today's world - it is near impossible to compete with the massive = behemoths of microsoft and adobe - "real" innovation is suffering and = app bloat is rampant. not much different then any other industry that = becomes a massive money maker, cars, computers, etc... now you need = millions of dollars for lobbyists to compete in nearly any established = industry, how do you think that affects innovation and a newcomer to = compete in the market? - computer apps are not all that much different. = why do you think microsoft installs it's office suite on every PC sold = (and sells office to teachers etc for $49 it is not because they think = teachers are underpaid - it's market saturation strategy) also this whole "cloud" thing is very flexible - like once adobe finds = 90% of it's user base transitioned (via no other option) on "cloud" = there is not much to stop that $49 monthly fee from going to $249 per = month, though it will probably go up in smaller steps, $79, $99, $129 = etc - this is like printing money at that point - need to increase = revenues to get that fat bonus? let's up the monthly "cloud" price - = after all the "users" will HAVE to pay it now or their apps go poof and = they loose access to all their data/files (insert evil laugh "moo hoo = haa haa" here) look at all these ISP's that use loss leader "sale" prices like that to = get you on broadband (low starter prices good for 12 months and then = oops they go up usually double or more) or guess what? oops again - = you app is disconnected and you are out of luck. in a recent "future feature" survey that was sent to me by a different = company i was reading the "fine print" and it said that by agreeing to = take the survey you agree to their terms and included in the many = clauses was any public negative comments about their app means they = reserve the right to deactivate your copy of the app... yeah i deleted = the survey... i'm not giving up my rights (what little are left) that = easily... just keep in mind that a corporations interest is in making more money = and bonus' the corporation - nothing to do with making the users life = better or easier on the bright side - most of these world domination attempts usually = backfire and it will hopefully spurn a new wave of apps by small = developers that will leap a generation ahead in features and thinking. = though it may be a frustrating few years during that future transition = for most of us. have a great day dann ___________________________________________________________________ Dann Stubbs - dann@darkskydigital.com Dark Sky Digital - http://www.darkskydigital.com http://www.RenderKing.com Value Priced C4D, VRAY Render Farm ___________________________________________________________________ On May 7, 2013, at 11:13 AM, Dan Spiess wrote: >=20 > Overall, it adds to the cost of our doing business, and that means = money out of my pocket, without anything in return. >=20 > How can I support that? >=20 > Dan Spiess > Digital Lighthouse Productions >=20 > +---End of message---+ > To unsubscribe send any message to >=20
