After Effects CC is version 12.0. The next version will have a different number (I can’t yet give away whether that is 12.1, 12.5, 13.0, or 999.0, so let’s call it x.y for this answer). You will be able to choose if and when to download and install version x.y, and you’ll be able to run After Effects CC (version 12.0) and version x.y side by side, just like you can do now with After Effects CS5 (10.0) and After Effects CS5.5 (10.5). More information will come later when we actually have a new version ready. Regarding your license question: The ‘L’ in ‘EULA’ is for ‘license’. You have never owned software from Adobe (or any other software company that I can think of); you have had a license. The difference is that in the past the license was not limited to a certain amount of time, though it was (and still is) contingent on other things as spelled out in your EULA. If so, what decides when a feature gets rolled into a "patch/update" or included in a version release? Also, in response to many speaking about owning software. I haven't looked at the EULA super closely but did we "own" CS6 or just "license" it from Adobe? Just curious. I know a lot of software is in fact licensed and not owned. |
