Thankfully this one benefited a lot from the "old film" look which helped cover up some sloppiness in the masking, but it was still somewhat tedious to set up. Glad to hear it was still useful. I'd probably do this in Nuke instead of Maya these days. ...wondered where all those views on that video were coming from today. :) >From San Francisco now, - Nathan On Tue, May 28, 2013 at 5:00 PM, Lloyd Alvarez wrote: > If you don't want to do the 3D Camera projection you can do the "Kid Stays > In The Picture" multiplane effect all in AE with help from pt_Multiplane: > http://aescripts.com/pt_multiplane > > > On Tue, May 28, 2013 at 7:24 PM, patrick Siemer wrote: > >> There's really no such thing as cheating. >> If it gets the job done, it is all ok! >> If you need any more reference, I could send you more than a few shots >> via email in h264 compressed format. >> I have tons of historical 3d photos from various documentaries I have >> worked on over the years. >> good luck on your project! >> -patrick >> >> >> >> On May 28, 2013, at 4:06 PM, pixelbot@comcast.net wrote: >> >> thank Patrick - I actually found yours in my research, and in truth I >> know how to do the effect I was mainly looking for the example Nathan S >> had, because I wanted to see how he handled spoked wheels and seeing his >> masterpiece I realize that his is probably way overkill - considering this >> is the examples we were given: >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-P8WcPjMMv8 and if you see the example >> at 1:00 in you can see they just cut the wheel out, not bothering to even >> deal with the interior.
