I  have done a lot of subtitle/translation in languages that need non-roman fonts, like Cyrillic and Arabic and Asian, and from what I recall I had to use Motion to do these projects because of Adobes daft localized licensing agreements. all Apple software works with non-roan fonts out of the box, but to work with a Cyrillic font in Adobe software you would need to buy the local version of the software.

Thats how I understood the issue 4-5 years ago when I was doing a lot of these. Perhaps Todd can put me right, if I'm mistaken. Otherwise perhaps he can put a word in the ear of the bean counters to stop being so damn tight fisted.

Hey Guys,

I wonder if anyone can shed light on a font issue I am having.
A project contains many language versions with camera moves which are to rendered out and comped over a commercial in Flame. The French, German, Spanish, Portugese, Japanese and English languages all use text layers parented to nulls with a Gotham/MS Gothic font and seem correctly displayed.
The Arabic and Chinese versions are created from pdf files with masks and seem fine too, but the Russian versions, although using a Cyrillic font and displayed in the layer name correctly are not visible in the comp no matter which font I select. Opacity is 100%, colour is white (on black) and font is Helvetica Cyr Upright. It's a mystery......

any ideas?

Best,
Darren
