you may have to export from AI first to a PSD to get PS to see the type layers, at least last time i tried i had to. maybe things have gotten better since

There is a workaround I have done in the past.

Import the AI file into PhotoShop and the text should be editable in PhotoShop then import that into AE swap it for the AI file then use the convert layer to editable text feature in the PSD layer.
