Prores HQ or avid DNxHD are the standards when I deliver for TV. Ive been working on a show for MTV mostly cut on avid so usually it's DNX. 1080p, 29.97, non-dropframe timecode. Free download from avid site.

Hi,

I normally only ever do animated video in 1080p 24 fps for web video (Vimeo, YouTube embed etc.)

Now if someone tells me my video is so awesome it belongs on TV, what is the simplest, best, easiest acceptable format that a TV station could accept / work with that I could export to directly from AE?

Now I am not talking about a course in video formats, let us assume this is a guide for newbies, not someone working in broadcast, also lets assume that it doesn’t need to be ready to broadcast directly without preparation , only a format that they would be happy to work with.

I have a guess that the popular video format of QuickTime, 1080p, 24fps, H264 lossless is not acceptable? (would be great if it is so I don’t have to render multiple versions).

I just want a simple answer here, not a handbook or a complicated guide, thanks.

What is the digital format that would be best (and ideally small in size but ‘lossless’) that could be simply uploaded to FTP or shared on DropBox etc.

I am talking about 3 minute length of video max, so 60 to 180 seconds. (The type of video is animated cartoon type video).

Perhaps there are alternatives, but I would be happy with just the best, simplest, smallest, most compatible format.

Thanks in advance,

Anders
