Hi Dave,
I forgot to congratulate you on your successful Kickstarter. That is just so cool!  I am constantly amazed at the generosity of that community.  I have a few questions but also some initial ideas, so here are the ideas....
I would approach your boards with a photo animation technique or possibly a 3D render, using After effects to either Key out  or cut out the needed elements, with slightly rough hewn edges to give it an edgy feel.
The end result would have a stop motion feeling, mixed with with clean, flat  colors  with sophisticated transitions.  Using stills for the elements will  save money, enable high quality Close-ups, and stay true to
the indie spirit of the Iographer.  The silhouette idea is possible as well, but I would shy away from  using motion picture footage as rotoscoing on that can get expensive for your budget.  We can stick with 2.5D
and stretch your dollars far.  Shooting the iographer could involve a turntable like setup or even directly mounted on a tripod to do the rotations.   We would shoot nice smooth rotations of each element, comprised  of 60 to 90 frames each.
Time-Remapping in Ae will enable us to "pose" them and combine into a multitude of possible actions.  I could do the shoot up here or you could do it down there.  Up to you.
I am thinking that this is for the opener of your video, right?  If not we should talk soon.

Hi gang, Im in need of an animated spot for my iOgrapher device. I am attaching my storyboards, i cant draw for the life of me, for the idea. Looking for something fun that shows off the case and its glory. I have a tiny budget. Anyone interested? I think some of you responded before when the idea was in its infancy but i lost the emails!

Looking forward to your thoughts, Dave
