I put one of those OWC disk expander = gadgets in my MacPro3,1=85 one that allowed an extra HD in the spare = optical drive bay, and I had major problems with my first drive slot in = the stock drive array either not mounting or locking up the entire = computer or causing it not to boot at all. I tried the expander on two different MacPros and I had the same issue = with both of them. I yanked the fifth drive and my problems = disappeared.
