FYI, I may have jumped the gun giving the all clear on this issue.

I just exported a countdown leader from Pr CC in ProRes, and tried to import it into Ae CC, and I got the same error message.  I proceeded directly to delete the AJA folder in the Ae CC Plug-ins folder, and I was able to import the movie after a relaunch.

So, next… I quit Ae, and unzipped the AJA folder that contained the AJA Adobe driver that I had zipped right after a clean install.

I was then able to reopen the project and use the external monitoring feature.

This leads me to conclude that the AJA Adobe plug in gets corrupted fairly easily.  What I'm not certain about, though, is whether the AJA driver is defective, or whether it's Ae that's corrupting it.  So, I'm not sure where to file the bug report.

On a related note:

Pr prefs get corrupted so easily (several times per day, some times) that I have a similar refresh strategy that puts me back in business after a quit, refresh prefs and relaunch routine.

In case anybody is interested, my method is to launch Pr with a clean set of prefs, adjust them how I want them, and then before starting any work on projects, zip the prefs, and create an alias to the enclosing folder on my desktop.  That way, I can quit Pr, open the prefs folder, trash the prefs, unzip the "clean modified" prefs, and relaunch Pr.  I do lose the Recent Items, but that's a small price to pay.

With Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager, I was able to refresh prefs about as easily with CS6 and previous, but it's not yet been updated for CC.
