A stock GTX570 on a Mac Pro will not show you any screens at bootup
until the desktop appears.  Macvidcards flashes these cards, and others,
so that you see the normal bootup screens, which could be handy for
troubleshooting purposes should anything go amiss with your system.  I
researched it carefully before I bought mine and decided that
macvidcards was the way to go. The price is higher than a stock 570, but
not unreasonable; still hundreds of dollars less and about twice the
performance of the Quadro 4000 I had been using.

I have 570 in each of two machines, running OSX 10.7.5.  You should
check the latest information if you are running 10.8.x - here is a link
to one of several informative threads you can find by googling "GTX 570
Mac Pro":

I have no affiliation with macvidcards other than being a satisfied
customer.
