If you’re setting the roundness of the corners during the original drawing operation, that can also be created with a path-based shape.
The modifier keys for setting roundness, et cetera, are all listed in After Effects Help:

Yeah, figured that out (I actually found a message board post from you on that exact topic)… the advantage of the rectangle path shape tool is that you can adjust the roundness of the corners… though, I assume that is exactly why you can't copy the path out….
