The bundled mocha AE is quite useful for planar tracking faces and linking masks. There was a recent webinar that showed various AE techniques including matching grain, etc: http://www.imagineersystems.com/videos/webinar-digital-makeup-retouching/view

Sometimes tracking in painted clean frames is more effective than bluring methods and mocha Pro's Remove Module has been used for this kind of work quite a lot.
