Notice that = OpenEXR actually has a selection of codecs available, but because they = all come with the source distribution you never worry about using any = one of them. If a new codec comes out (last one was in 2007) or the = format adds features (like it just did last April), tell your app = developer to update to the latest library and they should get the new = stuff without doing much work at all. I will be using OpenEXR as my = model for sure. I guess there's not much need for proprietary capture codecs now that = we've all gone tapeless, but I know my design will intentionally not = include a plug-in way to add new codecs. Instead I'll encourage other = parties to add their codecs to the open source pool. Brendan
