I would be inclined to do Windows (Windows 7 that is) vs. Hackintosh for a primary machine for the reason of ease of upgrades, adding, removing hardware etc. Hackintosh is delicate build require lots of manual care and feeding during any type of changes plus a lot of time up front to configure.
Any the cross platform differences are not a big deal especially if you find the right mix of utilities. I’ve got both and think a Hackintosh is good secondary machine. Only go primary if you’ve got time to tinker or a IT wonk to keep it happy.

Subject: [AE] Switching to hackintosh
Well I can't wait any longer, and I must replace an aging Mac Pro.
I have decided to go Hackintosh or maybe Windows if that does not work smoothly.
I have seen the benchmarks at Teddy's site and am impressed with multiple graphics card performance. (Thank you for all that work Teddy!)
I am leaning towards a single card for now and leaving room for another later.
Would love to know what you all think of the gtx Titan for after effects use.
I will also be doing lots of C4D.
I am leaning towards pairing it with an i7 3930 processor hex core. It is cheaper than two cards.
I want a bulldozer for pushing pixels around.
who cares if this was sent from an iPad
