| I don't see why it wouldn't be OK. I don't think it could harm anything. You can always move or zip the old prefs before you replace them for safety.
You can export your Render Settings and Output Modules via the Edit>Templates>etc. menu.
I believe they both get stored in the prefs along with the Workspaces you saved, and thats about it. Unless the displays are the same size for both machines, saving the Workspaces may not be that productive.
