Hello Anders!

I also managed to finally create that animation, swaping the face shapes. Not perfect but better then nothing. Still not the Disney type :P As soon as it will be online, I will post it here.

Btw here is my showreel: https://vimeo.com/64075533 some face animations are there too :)

Cheers!

Hi Blazej,

I have been doing some abrupt mouth shape to shape or blending like Mathias mentions in some of my animations. Looking forward to try out the Auto Lip-Sync when I have the time.

For examples of my simple, abrupt / blending have a look at my 2013 Sundstedt Animation Reel: https://vimeo.com/sundstedt/reel or view sample video here: http://sundstedt.co.uk/blog/samples

In these videos all face animations where done using simply swapping or fading one eye or mouth image to the next, in a pre-comped character. Also, you can achieve things like chewing animation using puppet tool. See Push Digital animation.

Hi Blazej,

if you have existing shapes and want to morph from one to the other, the crucial question is in what format you created your shapes.

If they area shape layer or mask keyframes, AE will morph between them automatically during the transition from one keyframe to the next. If they are just images, there is no easy way for automatic morphs and you can either go abruptly from one shape to the next or do some frame blending.

@Eric: Thanks for mentioning our Auto Lip-Sync!

Cheers,
Mathias

Thanks Eric! I checked already the autolipsync, it's pretty good. But I am looking for a solution of creating facial animation like Gene here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8rnMc22AG8 . I have references http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cvHO-BOXGU8/TWMYxwPnn_I/AAAAAAAAA3E/vPXLgtFtk-4/s1600/talkreference-gf-edit.png and created already poses of face of my character. Now how to morph one mouth shape to another? :/

2013/7/2 Mr. Eric D. Kirk <kirkproductions@gmail.com>

I would suggest lipsync by mamoworld.com as a start.

I'm sure Mathias will be chiming in very soon.

Hello

I am wondering if you know any technique for animating mouth and the whole face using after effects. I mean creating some kind of face rig, using poses designed earlier. There is no problem in ordering faces one after another according to text speech, but what with morphing standard face into different poses? Anyone know?

Blazej
