For giggles I made a matte using my client's colors, 0,171,134 inside PPro CS6, export ProRes 422, opened in QT 7 with FCS compatibility on, sampled it with the OSX DigitalColor Meter and got 0,169,137, not bad but not great. Open that same mov in QT
X (just as my client is doing) and sampled at 1,180,145, the same as if I turned off FCS in QT 7.
My understanding is PPro doesn't manage color, even if it did why is legacy QT 7 (with FCS on) closer than QT X?
Is gamma really an issue here in 10.8.4 I thought all was 2.2?
I'm going mad on this one.
Help anyone?
If you render to a codec that supports color profiles like prores then it should look the same in QT X as it does in AE as long as you are using color management.

Just played torture test viewing the same video in QuickTime 7, QuickTime X and VLC.
YIKES!
VLC was the most faithful in color reproduction but how do I convince the client to use VLC over QuickTime?
Is VLC doing something that QT isn't, reading color profile info?
