Excel sure opens fast, though. My second MacPro, which is a backup and overflow workstation and not = used that much, has two internal 500G drives for OS. One is running = 10.8.5 and the other 10.6.5. I'm thinking it's safe to abandon 10.6 = now, and commit to 10.8 on a RAID. I expect it would speed things up = for no cost, as opposed to $440 for a 480G SSD. But, that's only if it's safe to run a boot disk off a software = controlled RAID 0, which was the point of my OP.
