| Easy for you to say to "buy a SSD." :) Actually, I just did that for my main Ae workstation yesterday, and it hasn't seemed to speed up Ae. Excel sure opens fast, though. My second MacPro, which is a backup and overflow workstation and not used that much, has two internal 500G drives for OS. One is running 10.8.5 and the other 10.6.5. I'm thinking it's safe to abandon 10.6 now, and commit to 10.8 on a RAID. I expect it would speed things up for no cost, as opposed to $440 for a 480G SSD. But, that's only if it's safe to run a boot disk off a software controlled RAID 0, which was the point of my OP.
