I've used Puppet Tool all of four times since it was released. I currently have a situation that I believe that Puppet Tool might help me on, but I fear I may be asking well beyond it capabilities.
1) Can the initial position get set any other way than by clicking via a mouse? Can it be set period for that matter? I found this article from 2009, but didn't know if much has changed since then.

2) What is the max amount of pins allowed per mesh or is there a cap?
For context, I am dealing with a tracking issue in another software that is starting to force my hands into a 2D solution. I need deformation to happen cleanly and smoothly. I've attached 2D track data to Puppet pins in the past, but not to this extent or precision. We're talking between 90 - 150 pins. Ideally I would apply a pin at the precise x and y coordinate of the tracker's first frame (via scripting I was hoping), then the pin would animate via those applied track keyframes. Applying pins via scripting doesn't seem doable yet in AE unless I missed something. I'm open to ideas if anyone has some.
