Wouldn't this limitation be addressed with the feature of adding custom points? You could start with only the four corner points and add only the internal warp points you need,. Think Adobe Illustrator's gradient mesh functionality.
B same here.
actually my FR is to make mesh warp only warp on ROI so you could reduce the area to just what you wanted to mess with. this would reduce the need for having to create a complex grid to a simple one just to touch a particular area of an image.
and can you say CUDA/ OCL goodness and extend it to PP as well :)
Great example! Needless to say I use Mesh Warp frequently. My design toolkit would benefit greatly from an improved version, so there's a third-party opportunity if Adobe can't manage it!
Brian To Brian's note about people using Mesh Warp. Another example is this silly project I VFX suped, where text needed to be changed on the big red buttons and exactly match what was shot. Initially I started messing around with CC Cylinder and trying to match it up, match lens distortion, focal length, etc. CC Cylinder got complicated and didn't work well for this application.
I got them matched perfectly in 2 minutes using Mesh Warp:
