That Nuke implementation once again shows how old and behind the AE meshwarper is :-(

Adding target and destination mesh, with transform controls of each to attach to a tracker, yes please.

And as much as i like ReVisionFX Flex for spline warping, i use it often too, it also is limited by how a thirdparty plugin can implement a nice interface, and seeing the Nuke spline warper i want something with as nice a workflow in AE too. If that is some new builtin AE tool or better API functions so RevisonFX can do a nicer workflow i dont know.

I will resubmit a FR later...
...not that i think all my FRs for a new meshwarper count as multiple votes :-D

Yeah!  It's really nice to be able to transform the warp like that in Nuke.

Another real-world example of how Mesh Warp in it's current iteration didn't quite stand up:  We were testing the idea of creating projections on people's faces as a post process for this Adobe spot we recently finished. (link: http://vimeo.com/74901989 )  However, there was no good way to track the mask to people's head & facial movements so I ended up just using Nuke's warp, which was better suited for the task.

Ultimately, we just shot the projections in-camera for a lot of reasons so it became a moot point, but I could have stayed in AE with a better Mesh Warp.

Not trying to beat a dead horse ... and I did submit a feature request.  :)

After reading this interesting thread
I've found a video about how meshwarp works on nuke,
And talking about future improvement
In ae i think it is worth sharing.
The tutorial is here: http://youtu.be/SthlyRNXbkU

It's really smooth

Agreed! I haver numerous issues but one that's really troublesome is when the movement of the distortions aren't smooth enough, e.g. I'll drag a number of control points over time and when it rendered, the movement is herky jerky in one or two places. I'm guessing more keyframes might help but that's a hassle. Do the distortion filters have f-curves that can be manipulated by any chance? I looked but couldn't find any for the Mesh Warp but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.
