I would be interested to know if you found a solution in AE to the dual mono thing.

We had our files kicked back from the network distributor due to them being dual mono instead of stereo and we are not in a position to argue or tell them to change their workflow. We need to deliver stereo.

Apologies if I'm stating the obvious and perhaps missing the point, but by selecting the two mono tracks in FCP 7 and hitting opt-L, you create a stereo pair. Works in the other direction, too.

It sounds fine but when I import it into Final Cut it is seen as Dual Mono instead of Stereo.
AE says it is stereo, as to does QuickTime but FCP always says Dual Mono.
Usually we would do a layback in Final Cut but we are versioning a bunch of spots and want to avoid the extra step.
I found this thread on Creative Cow that sounds like the same issue.
Any ideas?
