It met a lot of criteria for the project and it's working out quite well. On another note has anyone tried atomkraft 3D for AE? how is the usability? Something I'm actually enjoying about the AE raytrace engine is the lack of options. I know that sounds crazy, but the limitations make it much faster to work with, interface and workflow wise. As well, the viewport quality is quite good and refreshes fast. I still have no idea what I'm going to do to make post tweaks with filters though. Looking like I'll have to render it all out to do the compositing. Kind of a bummer.
