You're not the only one using CC raytracing, and you're certainly not
the only one looking for answers to "How do I efficiently add effects to
raytraced objects?"  I have not found a satisfactory answer so far and
the limitations this imposes in the current version are obvious.  So I'm
watching with interest myself.
