I tell them great, get me the assets, so they have someone rebuild it in illustrator. When I get it, it's a complete disaster, poorly organized, hundreds of layers, fake 3d gradients, no layer groups etc. So I have to rebuild it completely in AE. Took me about two days. It's all built within AE. Raytraced solids from extruded shapes, vector logos, lighting and camera rig, etc. I needed to work entirely inside AE for a number of reasons, primarily speed. I would have loved to do it in C4D but I'm not as fast with keyframe timing, plus flipping between programs can be a headache. Render times being the third slower component. For quick raytracing AE renderer is very well optimized for my graphics card. I also have to say the CC timeline layer and grid snapping saved me hours of alignment headaches.
