I use Puppet Tool occasionally, but seldom use the starch tool (tho I probably should try it when I do). found it a little awkward/kludgy
Instead, I usually just carefully add additional pins in the right places, that usually keeps things from distorting.
so maybe try adding a pin to the face and go from there.
