i would suggest first and foremost to shoot with nonflickering lights, or in a framerate that is devidable with the light frequency.
BUT, when that is not possible, or the damage is already done, and we all know that happens all too often :-)
I have had good success with normal frame averaging on some parts of the frame where there was a flickering light on set, i just used "CC Wide Time" to blend frames from before and after. But this ofcourse only works in very specific cases where the motion is not too fast and you can live with the motionblending look.
I have never ever got any good results with the "color stabilizer", but you could try it and see if you get lucky and it works on your footage. Boris FX also has an deflicker effect, never tried it but could be good, and The Foundry looks like it has a nice deflicker in the Furnace set, but that unfortunately is not for AE :-(

As a result of seeing some quick & dirty tests I am triggered to ask what is the best flicker reduction AE plug that members have encountered? As a minimum it has to offer the ability to track both moving scenes and differing flicker areas within the shot. |
