Thanks folks! I used Acronis True Image and cloned the OS drive after booting from a flash disk. The 100GB clone took five minutes. Swapped the drives and now it boots up 20 s faster with no further optimization. Pretty impressed with how easy that was. Now I can keep the original as a hot-swappable backup if anything happens to my OS. Pretty cool.

Hi, you can clone to a bigger disk and clone also the partition and you will still have space left you can do whatever you want, the bios part you need to change the boot order to boot the other one. Acronis has that type of software.
