| OWC Tech Support guy concurs that my SSD is irretrievably dead. They're going to replace it under warranty. He rendered no opinion whether updating another drive to Mavericks was a cause or a suspect. Could be a coincidence. BUT, just in case, if anybody is thinking about installing Mavericks on a spare disk, be sure to clone your main boot disk first, and especially I suppose, if it's an SSD.
