12.1 has been OK here on 10.8.5, although I haven't tried any Ray-Tracing.  

But, perhaps you can retrograde the OS on that new Mac and continue working.

This is really challenging ... since I have upgraded to Maverik Mac OSX 10.9

I am facing challenges with my After Effects CC despite of updating it to 12.01 and

running it on the newest possible Apple Powerbook (Intel Quad Core i7, Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz)

with GPU NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M and Intel HD Graphics 4000 Graphic card.

 

Sometimes After Effects doesnt open at all, in fact if i open it and quit it I have to

restart my machine in order to relaunch AE.

 

Anyone else experiencing this sort of issues?
