Just as an aside about vector blur. I used it extensively in this music video I worked on a while back.

The intro and the middle breakdown used vector blur on top of particular emitting from a light. Added it to live footage of paint drops and stuff as well. Turned out to have a nice wash over paint look.

No problem! It was definitely easier than typing out, I vaguely remembered doing something like this several years ago but couldn't remember exactly how so I just did the sample project.
Also I have to admit I did not know vector blur was so useful for jaggies. That tip will save me hours! I also discovered you get a cool effect woth my project if you add vector blur set to -500!
Thanks all I think this will work - and thanks croebot for putting together a quick project (probably easier than typing out an explanation) and Brian I can honestly say in 18 1/2 years I've never used vector blur, but it worked great, I'll have to look in using it when smoothing out edges (perpendicular)
Thanks Tt iPhone
Thanks both - I'll give that a try

For smoothing edges like this, vector blur is your best friend.

Tim, this should get you going. You'll have to figure out how to smooth the edges is the only problem.
Looking at that apple made in California video - got me thinking if there is a trick to making it look like one circle is coming out of another circle kind of like two cells where there is some material between them until one breaks free. I seem to remember there was a tutorial out there and I thought median was used - can anyone point me in the right direction?
