Glacier is cheap for a reason. Tried it through an app on my NAS and it's total shit. Zero control over backup. Once you start it you can't stop it, and you can't limit the upstream data rate or even pause the transfer. This equals an unusable connection at normal US data speeds for days at a time. Not feasible. Interface is horrible. You need to know some web coding and deal with Amazon Web Services. Huge pain in the butt.

I buy 1 TB bare HDDs and back up projects with an open hot-swappable SATA enclosure. They are close to / under $100 these days. I use server grade drives for reliability.
