It probably would be script worthy depending on what the access in AE7 was limited to back then. Also to run script locally would require having all AE versions needed for process. I haven't scripted for AE7 for at least seven years. :) I agree that auto up conversion for old projects would be a nice tool. "The most useless day is that in which we do not laugh" -Charles Field If the structure between old versions exists to be able to save and open in higher versions a few steps, I wonder how hard it could be to implement a legacy project importer which could detect and use the right steps up to save to something usable in current versions?
Would be a great feature to have added at some point. Maybe even a service of CC where you upload the aep and it gets converted in the cloud and downloads a recently openable version.

I just did this not too long ago for Rachel Max on this list. Her projects ranged from AE 5 - AE 6.5. I was able to open them in AE7.0, save them out, then open them in CS3, save them out once more, and then open them with CS6.

I have a AE project created in 2006 using 6.5 (pre-CS). AE CC won't open it. I'm wondering how far back I need to go to get to a version that will open it and resave so that I can bring it into AE CC.
