Hi Nathan,

I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to give this excellent advice on RAM previews, I did read it I've just not had the chance to try it out or respond until today.

I appreciate the help.

Kind Regards,

Check out the Work Area.  Just set the Work Area start and end areas to the part you'd like to save out.  Press "b" on the keyboard to set the work area start to the current frame, then "n" to set the out-point.  You can do this before or after you've created the RAM preview.  You can also interactively drag the in and out points of the work area in the Composition panel.

Note that this also works when you're adding things to the regular render queue.  It will default to rendering whatever you've set your work area to.

Hi,

Is there a simple way to quickly render out only the part of the RAM preview that is needed?

(without having to render out the entire comp RAM preview, importing and editing out the rest and re-render).

When using the Composition -> Save RAM Preview menu, it keeps rendering out a RAM preview from the start of the comp rather than from Current Time, which is what I want.

I also could not find a way to avoid this by using Edit->Purge->All Memory, it still renders out RAM preview from before and after the section I have RAM Previewed.

Is there any other way to really quickly render out a small part of a comp to show someone without having to Add To Render Queue and having to setup start and end times and output formats and everything manually?

I guess what I'm looking for is a function where I can drag/select a portion of a comp, then quickly render that section but nothing else before or after that.

Thanks,

Anders
